Waiting for the Thunderbolt

Ever had that feeling that you've said everything there is to say? I get it every six months or so. You could say I'm waiting for the next thunderbolt. I'm also anticipating another thunderbolt -- this one exterior -- that collapses the deranged Empire of Wokeness. For what cannot  continue will not continue.

I've decided to reinstate the Now Reading list to the sidebar, because readers have a right to know what I'm inhaling. As you can see, it's a diverse and contradictory list, from traditionalism to evolutionary psychology to demonic influences to alt-right hate thinkers. My job is to somehow reconcile them all, which isn't that easy. Some would say it's frankly impossible, but I am committed to making diversity work.

For example, the alt-right tends to be indifferent or hostile to Christianity. I sympathize with their view, as I would certainly choose moderate atheism before, say, the radical National Council of Churches, or any other form of leftist Christianity -- which is just mental illness or demon possession masquerading as Christianity.

The other problem I'm seeing with the alt-right is the rejection of universalism. It's a mirror image of the left's absurd relativism, which devolves to tribe vs. tribe, and ultimately to power. Realpolitik types will say that we are naive, since politics always reduces to the will to power anyway. All the fancy rhetoric just covers naked self-interest.

Well, even if universalism was discovered by white Europeans, it's still universal. In other words, it makes no sense to me to attribute abstract universalism to racial particularism, just as it makes no sense to say that modern physics is a Jewish thing. If there are no universals then we are screwed. I don't care which race discovered them.

Yes, western civilization is probably doomed in the long run -- human nature being what it is -- but we certainly won't pull out of our suicidal death spiral by rejecting the universalism of the founders, rather, by reaffirming it. If I reject the identity politics of the left, it's because it is barbaric and regressive, not because of my own tribal loyalty.

Moreover, half my tribe is composed of lunatics, idiots, craven conformists, the power hungry,  and the demon-possessed. Obviously, I have much more in common with Thomas Sowell or Clarence Thomas than with Joe Biden or Rachel Maddow.

I'm not naive about racial differences. I just think we should hold all races to the same universal standards and let the chips fall where they may. If the entire NBA is black, or the entire Berkeley math department is Asian, I couldn't care less.

I guess the deepest analysis goes to the very nature of intelligence, which is, among other things, the capacity for discerning principles. If it's merely a function of biology, then to hell with it. Sure, a German Shepherd is smarter than a Great Dane, but neither can ever transcend dogginess and know the absolute.

Intelligence is obviously bound up with natural selection, but to reduce it to such is both self-defeating and ultimately absurd. We could say that intelligence is accidentally genetic but essentially transcendent, on pain of being able to say nothing about it that isn't reducible to reproductive interest, or "selfish genes." If that's the case, then Europeans are wrong and Muslim immigrants are correct, because the latter have more children.

If we are to prevail it can't be just because we are more intelligent, but because we understand what intelligence essentially is; and

One of the keys to the understanding of our true nature and of our ultimate destiny is the fact that the things of this world never measure up to the real range of our intelligence. Our intelligence is made for the Absolute, or it is nothing. Among all the intelligences of this world the human spirit alone is capable of objectivity, and this implies -- or proves -- that what confers on our intelligence the power to accomplish to the full what it can accomplish, and what makes it wholly what it is, is the Absolute alone (Schuon).

Moreover, to be intelligent is to know reality and to thereby be more real:

Intelligence is the perception of a reality, and a fortiori the perception of the Real as such. It is ipso facto discernment between the Real and the unreal -- or the less real...
Intelligence gives rise not only to discernment, but also to the awareness of our superiority in relation to those who do not know how to discern.... we cannot help being aware of something that exists and is perceptible to us thanks to our intelligence, precisely....

But the same intelligence that makes us aware of a superiority, also makes us aware of the relativity of this superiority and, more than this, it makes us aware of all our limitations. This means that an essential function of intelligence is self-knowledge: hence the knowledge -- positive or negative according to the aspects in view -- of our own nature (ibid.).

Now, leftism is predicated on the denial of human nature, so it is intrinsically stupid, irrespective of race.

For purposes of understanding, it might be helpful here if you clarify who you mean by "alt-right," with the understanding that it's a very big umbrella. Most of the people I have read, (and who I think fall under the general category "alt-right") are not only Christians, but tend toward a very strict, orthodox-type interpretation. They're SuperChristian, and deeply unhappy about the current state of mainstream Christianity. Often Catholic or Eastern Orthodox, they advocate not just traditionalism, but a return to Western Christendom or even Monarchy.

Totally agree about the tribalistic aspect. Americans, for instance, tend to think of "whites" as a monolithic group, but in Europe it becomes obvious pretty quickly that you can tell at a glance if someone is French, Nordic, Eastern, British, Irish, Italian, etc. And not one of those places has a history of utopic perfection, although they all have managed to have golden ages of functionality in their own ways.

To the point, how far are the alt-right willing to go to separate along racial lines, given the general belief I've seen expressed that culture follows race?

Moreover, half my tribe is composed of lunatics, idiots, craven conformists, the power hungry, and the demon-possessed.

Exactly. For reference, these are people shrieking about the return to Jim Crow laws.

If the entire NBA is black, or the entire Berkeley math department is Asian, I couldn't care less.

In both of those cases, the only question that matters is whether the people in question are culturally American. I'm not at all sanguine about the thought of an entire math department - or basketball team - bought and taught by Chi-Com plants who consider cheating and lying to be prudent methods to get what they want. But again, that's not about race, it's about culture.

I don't know much - or anything, really - about Gad Saad, but this is brilliant.

"You're using a knife to tease and tickle someone else's heart. By stabbing a six-inch blade into her heart." "One of the developmental stages is when you just knife each other to death. I mean, I've probably killed and been killed by 30, 40 kids; horseplay, just having fun with knives."

Looking at his twitter bio, here's another likely candidate for "alt-right, atheist."

Don't know if you've picked up his book, but he's hot on the mind parasite trail.

Isn't "alt-right" a style of white nationalist nativism? I see more extreme versions of such are often considered fascistic. Others tell me they're a cross between Pat Buchanan and Breitbart with some John Birch mixed in. Is they being accurate?

I know many Methodists, Anglicans, Southern Baptists, Catholics, and the occasional Lutheran or two who are politically apolitical. Keepin' God and Mammon separate and all. Is this bad or wrong?

How does one know if another is demonically possessed? Sounding quite serious, I wonder if there's a preventative?

If Jesus were alive today, would Jesus have worn a MAGA cap? I already know that he'd look pretty good in one, but would he have gone into Piggly Wigglys wearing such a cap, and maskless as well?

Thanks in advance. I may have more questions.

Julie, I enjoyed the link to Gad Saad. Therein I found a doorway into an entire alt-right world to explore. Fascinating stuff.

Gagdad, your thunderbolt arrives in two parts. Part the first, April 25th. Events of that day will provide grist for many posts.

Things simmer down, but never quite back to how they were. Then August rolls around. Part the second: August 2021. 08/2021. "Oh eight twenty twenty-one." Rolls off the tongue smooth.

08/2021 adds up to 13 magic biscuits, and it will earn every one of them. We are living in pivotal times. Historical times.

Keep yer bug-out bags packed and the 4-wheel drive gassed. That's all for now. Enjoy a nice quiet 24th. Remember that quietness.

Hello. Is anyone out there?

They say socialism never sleeps. Sounds like rust. How it eats away at the rebar until the bridge collapses.

Ok then. I will just try to enjoy the day. I've got chores to do. Places to go. People to see.

Just an ordinary person having an ordinary day.

How about you? What are you up to today?

Good Morning, Sharks!

I am Madeline Bovary, and I am CEO and CFO of "Madame Bovarie's Ovaries." Today I am seeking 200K for 15% of the business.

(Displays a large white egg)

Most businesses sell eggs by the dozen, and the cost can be astronomical. With Madame BO, you skip the middleman and lay your own eggs. That's right, using our patented product which you mix right into your morning juice or coffee, and you will soon be cackling with delight every day as egg after perfect egg comes out of your body. You never knew you had it in you, but Madame BO did.

And the cost? Compare with what you would pay to purchase eggs, and the higher quality you get by laying your own, and will agree this is the deal of the century.

Shark: What does it cost to make and what do you sell it for?

MBO: Each 1 Quart bottle of the powder costs sixty-eight cents, and I sell each unit for $29.99.

Shark: Wow, so it is mostly profit. How do you sell it? Online? What are your sales so far?

MBO: I sell mostly door to door (I know, I should be on the internet). This year so far we've made $5400.00 and plan to do $14,000.00. Since we started two years ago total sales are #30,000.

Shark: And how do the eggs taste?

MBO: Oh my gosh, wait a minute. We have a misunderstanding here. Our eggs are not to eat! Oh no, they are meant to be fertilized and used to hatch and grow children! We have another product, "The Penis Mightier than the Sword," that you apply with an ordinary turkey baster. I was going to explain all that.

Shark: Oh my God. So you are saying you are a Leftist and the product is for Leftists?

MBO: Well, actually, yes. Is that a problem? I didn't think it would matter honestly.

Shark: OK, well, I suppose for some people the product would be welcome. But I am not a Leftist. For that reason, I'm out.

Shark #2: It is a clever idea but don't Leftists lay eggs anyway without having to take something?

MBO: Well, only some of us do. Especially for men egg-laying can be a challenge.

Shark #2: From your numbers I don't see much of a demand for it. For that reason, I'm out.

Shark #3: Well I am a Leftist and I haven't laid an egg since I was in college. I can see how I might like to try it, along with the Penis stuff. I'll offer you the 200K but I want 30% of the business, because there is a risk the sales could be slow.

Shark #4: Wait just a minute. I kind of like the concept. Tell you what, I'll make an offer of the full 200K, and I will want that paid back when you have it, and I want 5% equity in the business. And, I'm willing to go door to door. Think it over.

MBO: I appreciate both offers, but I'm going to go with Shark #3's offer because she seems to get where I'm coming from and we can work together.

Shark #4: I respect that. Good job, you have a deal! I wish you well.

MBO: Thank you!

Agreed. Human nature isn’t that tiny percentage of us obsessed to acquire so much wealth and power that it becomes a mindless obsession dismissive of all else, like alcoholism, but that majority of us who are so easily brainwashed into tribal obsessions that the rational few of us observing all this have no choice but to helplessly accept that nothing but a dystopian future can be possible for humanity, no matter what anybody does.

Anonymous 9:20 AM argues that "nothing but a dystopian future can be possible for humanity, no matter what anybody does."

This is a perfect example of what I call "crank-speak," or dissatisfaction.

So, humanity storms out of Africa, overspreads the entire globe, wipes out all competing hominins, and then proceeds to multiply into the billions of individuals.

Then humanity proceeds to develop a brilliant string of technological innovations which ultimately culminate in the Tesla Roadster and the Falcon Super-heavy.

But this is not good enough for the crank speaker. No, obviously there can only be a dystopia. Said while drinking a craft beer in front of a wide-screen TV, and reaching for the bong.

"Is that your weed?"

"Yes, this is called Sun God and it is testing at 32% THC and 3.4% total terpenes."

"Good weed. Now what's next?"

"We are going to binge-watch Indiana Jones movies."

"Ohhhhhh kayyyyy, so only a dystopia is possible?"

"That's right, most of us are obsessed with acquiring so much wealth an power it becomes a mindless obsessive dismissive of all else, like alcoholism."

"Oh, I see."

anon @4/26/2021 08:27:00 AM,

The guy who was going to save us all, President Trump, lost. And now the leftists are in control, with nothing but evil on the horizon. And millions of dark skinned rapists climbing over parts of the wall which was never built, by Mexico.

This is the human nature of which I speak.

Yep. And then some nasty niggles come along and makes me re-say it again.
