Last night I heard Don LeMon and Fredo Cuomo point out that it's simplistic to characterize the conduct of the rioters in negative and judgmental terms. One man's looting is another man's retail therapy.
The arguments with which we justify our conduct tend to be more stupid than the conduct itself.

I enjoyed your list of aphorisms, and it aptly reflects the confusion most of us are feeling about Chauvin, Floyd, and the resulting riots.
First off, the last name of the officer "Chauvin" is a partial of the word "chauvinism" meaning exaggerated or aggressive patriotism." "Floyd" means "grey-haired."
From this we can tell God has a hand in all this.
The first and primary way to think about the incident is to imagine being there in the flesh. You are a bystander. You saw the police collaring Floyd, now you are within feet of what is occurring with Chauvin, Floyd, and the others. You are watching closely.
What to do you see? What do your hear? What do you smell? How does it make you feel? How do you want to react?
That is the litmus test; the only real litmus test. Put yourself there with the best evidence you can gather from the media. You will know if Chauvin murdered Floyd. You will know.
Now the blacks riot. They should not, we all know that. How is that going to help? Rioting is never the answer.
If there was murder conducted by pressing a knee on a man's neck for over eight minutes while that same man is informing you of a difficulty breathing and asking for mercy, and none was granted....people are not going to like that.
That is a heinous crime. Heinous especially committed under color of authority. No mercy should be shown to he who shows no mercy himself. An eye for an eye.
Are the cops militarized and overly aggressive? I have had a few police officer friends. The job is dangerous. It is nerve-wracking. Shots get fired, officers get killed. You have to be brave to do the job. But you also must love the people.
The bottom line is, police service is service to the taxpayer. No loose cannons need apply.
Looks like Floyd wasn't asphyxiated, so the rioters will be relieved to know they can return the loot now.

Here's an idea: If you don't want looting keep your your damn knees off of people's necks.
Don't touch the neck. That's not even a thing for police. Soldiers use that in hand to hand combat to kill.
You want to go fascismo then expect to be hit in the wallet.

So now as always, it’s time for another personal tale.
My local neighborhood had a sudden surge in property crimes. Our neighborhood association invited our local sheriff and neighborhood resident to give a talk to advise the rest of us about what we could do. The sheriff man I met was most impressive. Big and tall and well-spoken, he was retired special forces who reminded me of a young John Wayne. He told us that most of the criminals, who he himself had gotten to know personally via his business dealings with them including the occasional knee on head after a wild chase bit, were not at all the disgruntled leftist gangsta-rapping black men we hear so much about. They were instead almost always local meth heads who’d fallen in with the wrong crowd and whose lives had now gone full retard. His advice for us neighborhood folk was full of neighborly common sense. I was very impressed.
And then he actually chased and caught one of the local bad guys, with the whole thing being reported in real time on our local Nextdoor network. After doing his best John Wayne-ish “Aw-shucks ya’ll just doin my job”, Mr. Sheriff was now our newest neighborhood star!
Not long after, it was being reported that an aggressive husky-type dog was on the loose terrorizing small pets. One neighbor witnessed her own little lap dog being mauled and she identified the culprit as “Sandy”, her neighbors’ pet. Sandy’s owner vociferously denied the allegations. Sandy’s mom presented much evidence, including pictures displaying that Sandy was a female while the vicious dog was clearly a male. But to no avail.
Sandy’s owner became the target of neighborhood mobbing behavior at the behest of our sheriff hero. Even her children were being harassed at the local school bus stop by friends of the sheriff. After much ugliness, the real bad dog culprit and his owner were finally identified. But even after a court trial and eventual restraining order against the sheriff and his friends, some ugliness continued. There was no formal public apology, no hugs or hand shakes of contrition, no closure. Both sides just sort of slinked away and we the neighbors were left with a feeling that even the best of us are pretty mentally screwed up.
As a personal victim of mob violence, boy don’t I know it. Most people don’t have a clue, don’t want a clue, and would rather just beat the crap out of some declared “bad guy” just because it makes them feel good. Calming down to gather together to lay out all the facts and rationally discuss all the facts are simply beyond the means of most humans.
I’m wondering if Davila had any answers to that one?

The video of George Floyd's death clearly shows he was killed while being restrained. Whether it was accidental or intentional should be for a court of law to declde. Societal changes in.a democracy should be brought about by peaceful political means. It is ironic but hurtful to those infected badly with covid 19 for protesters to be carrying placards that state 'I can't breathe'
I agree the protests come at a bad time while the nation is dealing with the COVID-19 issue.
However, we will just have to get through this too.

Anonymous 4:17 I enjoyed the story. The moral of it was the decorated officer apparently harassed an innocent dog owner in a persistent and unlovely fashion, showing us everyone, even the best among us, has a dark side.
I have done things of which I cannot speak...there is a dark side.

I'm amazed by the variety of people involved in these protests-turned-riots. According to the videos, that is. Me, I don't go there since I'm staying the hell outta Compton. So I just watch the Youtube videos. The news kinda sucks.
Something tells me that they aren't all nihilistic sociopaths. They seem a full spectrum of diversity. Seems it's mostly Christian types at the protests, nihilistic sociopaths at the riots. I don't think that "diversity" means that Christian empaths and satanic psychopaths should all just get along. I think it prefers one over the other, since the other likes it when nobody gets along.
Anon @ 9:55, No thanks. If you really want to unburden yourself online, they have whole sections in places like Reddit devoted to that sort of thing. Or there's always confession, which serves the purpose of unburdening yourself before the Lord and comes with the gift of grace.
Everybody is a sinner. We've all done things we're ashamed of, and things we should be ashamed of but probably aren't. And likely, we'll continue to screw up one way or another even up to the last day, being a stiff-necked people. I am a sinner, I live with sinners. I don't care to dwell on their mistakes, and I hope they forgive me for mine. We try to love each other as best we can, and sometimes we even get it right.
If you're feeling guilty, offer it up to God, ask His forgiveness, and pray that where something needs to be made right, by His will it shall be made right. Pray for His Wisdom, His mercy, and His Guidance, and the Will to do what you ought. Pray for His healing for the broken parts of yourself.
That's all I know to do, anyway.
The darkest things I ever did was in retaliation to this guy who I worked with who was a bullying sociopath of the "kiss up kick down" variety. I found out that he lived in a waterfront home at the end of a long very steep driveway. I went very late at night. First I greased up the driveway with many gallons of used motor oil which I'd been saving for the occasion, to make it impossible for cars to drive up or down. Then I backed up my truck and released a few very large concrete balls which I'd made down the drive which smashed up his vehicles.
I came back later and found that an electronic gate with security camera had been installed. So I spray painted the camera lens and padlocked the gate with a very heavy chain and sabotaged the electronics and put up a large sign which said "SOCIOPATH" with an arrow pointing down at the house.
It was quite satisfying, my temporary delve into evil, which I'd rationalized was for a good cause. To teach that prick a lesson. I'd been inspired by the movie "Matilda" but I of course don't have telepathic powers so I just had to do the best I could with the resources I had available to me.
But that was before I learned that born sociopaths (psychopaths) will only modify their behaviors so they'll still get away with doing evil. They're incorrigible. So the light side of my older-wiser self now tries to notify others of their existence, and that they've done nothing to deserve sociopathic ire, just gotten involved with a very bad kind of genetically dysfunctional human who are best avoided and preferably, disempowered.

Here's how I see it:
• In general, there is a serious societal issue which this death exemplified. This would not have happened under the same circumstances to a Caucasian person.
• People have a right to be angry about this and peacefully protest
• Nobody has a right to violence and looting
• Although not to the level that the president alluded to (i.e. shot on site), looters should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and it should be clear that if you get caught looking you will go to jail for a long time
• Many looters are opportunists and are looting for the sake of looting
• Most of the protesters are being peaceful – it is a few bad apples that are causing the issues from varying sides of the political spectrum
• Most police are good people – it is a few bad apples which are causing the issues
• People are using this for political agendas from both sides and blaming the issue on the other side: the far-right bogeymen and the leftist bogeymen.
• There do appear to be bad apples from both sides; from the left-wing anarchists to the far-right militia group “Three Percenters”
• Those that are not idealistic people taking advantage of the situation that are burning things down and looting in their own neighborhoods are shooting themselves in the foot
We are unworthy of such stunningly conventional wisdom.
A few bad apples? Antifa tried to get Asian-Americans to riot & loot, but they couldn't even persuade them to wear shoes indoors.
Rioting & looting are just leftism without the middleman.
And this is no way to honor George Floyd's memory. He wasn't some common looter, but a specialist in home invasion robbery.
I heard that white supremacists haven't been this enraged since Trump brought black unemployment down to 5%.
Who knew so many celebrities were in favor of white supremacists? They can't hurry fast enough to provide bail money for those arrested in poor George's dishonor.
