Death, Revolution, and Giggles

The political platforms of the left are gradually transformed into scaffolds --Dávila

A few more points about the logic of sacrifice before moving on. First, note the role of projection: for five years the left has been viciously attacking President Trump, and yet, feel themselves to be his victims, for which reason they feel justified in his political murder (the symbolic regicide of impeachment).

Indeed, Dems such as AOC quite literally feel their lives were threatened by the president and his agents, e.g., Senators Cruz and Hawley.

Which brings to mind a golden oldie by Schuon that perfectly encrapsulates the mindset of the left's perversive victim culture:

In reality, man has the right to be legitimately traumatized only by monstrosities; [BUT] he who is traumatized by less is himself a monster.

Monsters. Germans, for example, were traumatized by the Jews. They certainly said as much. Nazis fervently maintained that murdering the Jews was an act of pure self-defense. The purpose of this comparison is not to evoke Godwin's law, but rather, to highlight the power and persistence of political psycho-projection. Extreme cases illuminate the less extreme.

If we've learned nothing else over the past five years, it is the extent to which the contemporary American left "speaks" the language of projection. If they didn't, we would have no way of knowing what they're up to until it's too late. (Hint: eliminating Trump = eliminating us. And U.S.)

In order to decode who they are and what they believe, one must examine what the left imputes to others, e.g., racism, violence, anti-science, etc.  This has always been the case, but there is something in the psychospirtual water that is accelerating the process, such that the time between projection and enactment is shortening, perhaps because our cultural defense mechanisms have been breached and overwhelmed. Spiritual AIDS.

Acceleration. Toward what? Spiritual death, which is to say death, for death occurs when the form withdraws from the body.

Yes, you might say that the form of our culture is simply undergoing "change" (AKA "progress"), but a change in substance is the opposite of a change of substance. That is to say, if the change is grounded in our founding principles -- for example, oh, freedom of speech -- then that is consistent with the Life of our nation.

Conversely, to the extent that change is grounded in substantially different principles, then this is a change of substance into a new organism. It is revolution, not renewal.

Speaking of which, is there a commandment the left doesn't invert and negate, from idolatry to relativism to envy to the institutionalization of theft?

That was a rhetorical question. For

--What is called the modern mentality is the process of exonerating the deadly sins (NGD).

Accelerate. Where have I heard that? Ah yes -- Fr. Reginald deployed this word just last night, although in a book that was published 75 years ago. In it he traces our cultural descent from paganism through deism, naturalism, liberalism, materialism, atheism, radicalism, socialism, communism, revolution, et al. Change!

However, if

the most lamentable effects of these pernicious errors do not yet clearly appear in the first generation, they are manifested in the third, fourth, and fifth generations according to the law of acceleration in descent. It is as in the acceleration of falling bodies: if in the first second the velocity of descent were to be twenty, in the fifth second it would be a hundred (emphasis mine).

Now presciently, this was published one year before the appearance of the most Grating Generation, the dreaded Boomers. We are now into, what, the fourth generation since them? (Millennials --> X --> Y --> Z --> whatever.)  If these latter generations are bad, I still blame the parents and grandparents.

(Speaking of which, new book: Boomers: The Men and Women Who Promised Freedom and Delivered Disaster -- https://www.amazon.com/dp/0593086759/?coliid=I3EZSR6RZEQ0ED&colid=1M0Z9KRTC1IB&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it)

I don't mean to sound so pissimystic this morning, because I'm not. Rather, I always assume the worst and hope for the best. To quote our friend Nicolás,

With good humor and pessimism it is possible to be neither wrong nor bored.

To be clear, I am not suggesting that our civilization is dead. Rather, that it is visibly dying before our eyes; and that one must be either insensate or one of its attackers or to not see this. After all, the latter no longer even bother to lie about what they're doing, so just believe them.

Consider what they're doing to our children, which is soul murder masquerading as education:

--By 2022, as your first-grader is learning that two plus two is four, the Minnesota Department of Education intends to mandate that she also learn to recognize “stereotypes,” “biased speech,” and “injustice at the institutional or systemic level.”

--Your middle schooler will be drilled in how his identity is a function of his skin color.

--Your high schooler will be required to explain how Europeans invented “whiteness” and that America’s 19th-century westward expansion was the shameful product of “whiteness, Christianity and capitalism.”

--World history from classical Greece and Rome to World Wars I and II... has been virtually eliminated. In its place, for example, young people... will learn about “feng shui”...

--5-year-olds will “identify surface and deep characteristics of different ways of being (identity).” Fourth-graders are coached on how one’s “identity” and “biases influence decisions about how to use a space.” Seventh-graders are exhorted to “define race and ethnicity from different perspectives and make connections to one’s own ways of being (identities).”

--By high school, students must “explain... the social construction of race” and “assess how social policies and economic forces offer privilege or systematic oppressions for racial/ethnic groups.” (https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2021/02/the-left-wing-plot-to-misinform-our-children.php)

Again: a change of substance. One can advocate this change, but just don't deny that it redounds to the death of one culture and the birth of a new one, good and hard.

Sometimes I write a whole post without intending to do so. Like today, for what I really wanted to do is wrap up our discussion of Transcendence and History. Let's try to do so in the timelessness remaining. I guess this passage will do:

So -- whether the phenomena under consideration are the cults of Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, and Mao, or more benign discharges such as an obsession with UFOs or the deification of movie or pop music stars -- a naively immanentist or materialist landscape is invariably a field of spiritual disorientation and false adoration, where the human longing for the divine ground is misdirected and misapplied.

And a fistful of aphorisms to wrap things up:

--The conservatism of each era is the counterweight to the stupidity of the day.

--Conservatism should not be a political party but the normal attitude of every decent man.

--To be a conservative is to understand that man is a problem without a human solution.

--The conservative is a simple pathologist. He defines sickness and health. But God is the only therapist.

--To scandalize the leftist, just speak the truth.

--Defeats are never definitive when they are accepted with good humor.

Ha!

There's ample video evidence to show that the January 6 mob was bent on violence, and it was only through sheer luck and the intervention of a few quick-thinking security people that more people weren't killed, injured, or kidnapped.

This is completely obvious to any honest observer, and to suggest otherwise is simply shameless lying.

Your willingness to bear false witness makes a mockery of all the pretentious religious metaphysics.

Defund the police! Except the ones who protect the politicians who want to defund the police.

Officially (publicly), Hitler used the Jews as a “common enemy” scapegoat for his citizenry’s ails. In truth, once great Germany was especially hard hit by the worldwide depression and reparations for WW1. Jews were at worst just culturally a little better at managing their money during those tough times. In covert reality Jewish money was stolen to help kickstart Germany’s wartime economy.

In more important news, I’ve been puzzling over this “with leftism vs. Christianity, only one survives” bit.

Although the ultimate atheist leftist state, the USSR, lasted over 70 years, there about 70% who claim Christian with about half those regularly attending church services.

Although Spain was far right wing under Franco for 40 years, the number of Christians and church regulars is far smaller. Germany has numbers in between Spain and Russia.

It seems that Christianity was more weakened after generations of right-wing governments than it was under left wing governments. Is Nicholas’ information dated?

(By my definition, fascism is right wing because churches are left alone and the rulers curry favor with religious leaders. Far left-wing governments (not the current centrist-corporate Dems but actual communist governments which physically owns the means of production) follow the atheist strictures of Marx making religious worship illegal.)

"Defunding the police" is a somewhat misguided and often misunderstood mantra. I looked it up and discussed it with them. The intention is to grant the police less power, less totalitarian-esqe and more along the "to protect and serve" printed on their cars and badges. Minor emergencies would be then first handled by "light-duty officials" like social workers and parking enforcement officers.

We wouldn't have events like that Canadian skateboarder who got beaten and tasered for crossing at a red light, or people with BB guns getting shot dead while laying on the ground but not doing police commands as quickly as the police demands. (that cop BTW, was well known by his peers for wanting to shoot and kill somebody) I think "defunding" involves trying to take more sociopaths-with-power out of the police force, a tweaking of our legal system gone good-ole-sociopath-boy wonky.

Since blacks represent violent crimes disproportionately, maybe only black cops should be sent for those kinds of crimes? This doesn't solve the white on white events I described in the previous paragraph, but the BLMs might be more satisfied. Maybe re-funding with psychological temperament tests and better social skills.

As we know, police with totalitarian power is considered a leftist thing. Yet for unknown reasons, as oft presented/riciculed here, the concept of "defunding police" is actually libertarian. You'd think a far-left police force would actually be granted more power, not less.

Maybe the capitol rioters who confronted/tried to kill cops were actually all secret marxists?

Bob, most evangelicals I know don't trust historians. They also don't seem to trust scripture
either.

The other day over at Ace's there was a post (can't find it now) discusses trans activists vs. feminists, with a Twitter video by a trans activist railing against female feminists who are trying to claim womanhood for women. A nut, in short, but s/he/it did have an excellent observation (roughly paraphrased):

"you feminists spent your lives separating yourselves from reproduction and traditional womanhood. You can't take it back! We are your children, and womanhood belongs to the LGBTQs."

Hard to argue with that, which is part of why I have never been a feminist.

They're calling it The Great Reset this time.

At least in the early days of public school, kids were being trained to be functional even if only as factory workers. These days, they are being trained to be completely broken.

Feminism was originally a natural progression of the women’s suffragette movement, believing that women don’t automatically deserve to be bullied just because they’re physically weaker and more agreeable.

Sadly, everything one needs to know about human nature should’ve been learned back in Kindergarten Sunday school.

Feminism morphed into the bizzarro world it is today, for the very same reason that former all-American hero Bruce Jenner gets to publicly wear womens clothing. If the owners of modern society get to do whatever they please to excess which reduces the quality of life for so many in America under the guise of “liberty”, then what’s a little feminist and crossdresser pushback also under the guise of “liberty”? It’s called blowback. This is what sinful humans do.

Hello All. Great post and comments.

Julie wrote: "At least in the early days of public school, kids were being trained to be functional even if only as factory workers. These days, they are being trained to be completely broken."

I'm old so I was in the cohort of being trained to be functional. And functional I became.

Now, in my profession I get a lot of contact with young people. They are far from broken. Kids these days seem super-bright and technically savvy. The young adults tend to be real world-beaters and some of them are making big bucks. All while being nice devout folk. Now mind you quite a few I meet are Asian. I don't know if that is skewing the numbers.

But yep, youth are shining bright right now. Our 5-star educational system has served them well and they are fit to carry our award-winning and diverse civilization all the way into the asteroid belt and into unheard of prosperity and common weal under God.

Hail Elon! Hail Jeff! Hail Mark! These are times which are celebrated in the annals of history as a gilded age.

But Julie, you say you've met broken youth. So have I, mostly in the intake area of the psychiatric facility. A percentage do break and break badly. But is it hyperbole to declare a generation of students broken? Where do you come by this? Please say not the media.

And the more the blog author brays about the supposed evils of modern education and our system of tenuring professors, the more into the category of just plain wrong he wedges himself. Now ask yourself "Do I believe Mr. Wrong or get out there and meet some dynamic young people and enjoy their hip energy?

That's what I thought. Get that hip energy.

So like the welcome for the conservative. I am one of those leftie boomers, lifelong, that has thoroughly repented in the last few years and even gone back to the church. Virtually no intellectual colleagues here in rural green-memed Ontario. Delightful aphorisms. The last one (--Defeats are never definitive when they are accepted with good humor.) reminded me of this I happed upon today from GK Chesterton:

A man and a woman cannot live together without having against each other a kind of everlasting joke. Each has discovered that the other is not only a fool, but a great fool. This largeness, this grossness and gorgeousness of folly is the thing which we all find about those with whom we are in intimate contact; and it is the one enduring basis of affection, and even of respect.

Anonymous, I may be wrong, but I believe that both are home schoolers.

My sister is a conservative Christian whose three kids all went to public school, all grades, and successfully graduated public college in 4 years, got married, and now have satisfying professional careers. As an added bonus, they're all still very active in their birth church. That their father is a wealthy doctor and their church life (local) was rich and supportive also seemed to have had a strong influence. But I know many other Christian parents who haven't had that level of success with the public schools.

So now I move on to another couple I know, living just above poverty, with four homeschooled kids. Their small church (Episcopalian) is located in a different city and I don't think provides nearly as much in the way of peer support as did my sister's megachurch. My state makes homeschooling easy, until high school age when children then must go to accredited public or private high schools. Their two oldest (high school) seem to be struggling. The boy is pure geek, all skinny and nervous. Poorly socialized or whatever, he's not very happy. The girl is outgoing-attractive and based on her attire, appears to have gone the slutty route in her attempt at some level of peer acceptance.

My point is that everything is relative. Just because I loved my midwestern public grade school but hated my west coast parochial middle school, didn't make those things or those areas bettor or worse. There were many variables at play. Sometimes it really is all about who you know, for the purpose of getting the best possible inside information and support system for your kids.
