We Are Not Worthy!

Honestly, it's a bit embarrassing for me as the honors continue to pile up. First, to be called the Most Obnoxious Man In AmeriKKKa by dailykos.

Then to be colorfully described by a wacky new age website as a "blue-orange rationalist with a vertical orientation" who is "endlessly frustrating in his limited thinking and belief that he, and only he, is right." What rational person, aside from a New York Mets fan, would walk around in bright orange and blue? Plus, I'm not always right. For example, I never would have predicted that infrarational crystal gazers would have any interest in a blog that caused them such endless frustration.

But now (along with Dr. Sanity and ShrinkWrapped) to be acclaimed as a "tendentious," "jejune," and "dated crackpot" by the mansierre-wearing (or is it a "bro" "pec deck," or "Victor's Secret?") King of Combovers, that Cindy Sheehan with a thesaurus, the ad homanally fixated James Wolcott!

Getting called out by the pompous Vanity Fair Guy is eerily similar to getting called out by the sarcastic Comic Book Guy. As he might say, "Oh dear, it appears the witty barbs emanating from your general direction have nearly broken my skin. I may have to purchase some Bactine if this continues much longer."

Next time Wolcott wants to honor me, I just wish he'd link directly to my site. You know, let the folks decide for themselves how we stack up against the awesome intellectual depths of Vanity Fair.

By the way, Petey is all fired up about this. He wants to try for the next level of notoriety--a footnote in a book by Noam Chomsky!

Wow, what can I say but - congratulations!

Needless to say, it's a great honor to be singled out and vilified by an epicene moral pygmy such as Wolcott. In a way, it's like having the entire wine and brie liberal/leftist NY establishment taking snide note of you. Means you're really doing something right.

Hmm, does he mean that thinking you are right is a sign of being wrong... and so is admiting his own wrongness in saying something he thinks is right, er wrong... eh... right? Sigh, limited thinking is endlessly frustrating.

Yes, it was negative. I hear he needs a complete addadicktomy.

Send the man a signed copy of your book. A stinging pan from Wolcott will put you on NYT Bestseller List.

You are now a "made man".
Congrats.

Sending to VDL.

Hopefully James and his compadres will keep directing traffic your way. Those with ears to hear will.

Your misinformed reference to IOC proves my rather flippant assessment correct.

Wolcott's milkshake brings all the boys (and ocicats) to the yard. Damn right...

If you were lucky like Pamela at Atlas Shrugs he'd take a somewhat disturbing obsession in defaming you on a regular basis. You needn't worry about him addressing your central arguments, as in ever.

"tendentious" "jejune" "dated"
Is that some sort of hat trick?

Congrats - the B-heads bask in your reflected glory.

I love this blog.

I write this not to spark a debate, but to ask some pertinent questions and make some observations.

"Then to be colorfully described by a wacky new age website..."

Could you explain why you think Bill's website is "wacky" and "new age," and what he's posted there, other than his assessment of you, that you disagree with and why?

"Getting called out by the pompous Vanity Fair Guy is eerily similar to getting called out by the sarcastic Comic Book Guy."

The gist of Wolcott's criticism is that Gagdad Bob engages in "straw man" attacks of the Left, and, when he does have valid criticisms of some on the Left, he virtually never points out those on the Right who deserve the same criticism. Why are these not valid criticisms?

"Needless to say, it's a great honor to be singled out and vilified by an epicene moral pygmy such as Wolcott."

I'm not familiar with Wolcott. Could you explain why you call him a "epicene moral pygmy"?

"does he mean that thinking you are right is a sign of being wrong... and so is admiting his own wrongness in saying something he thinks is right, er wrong... eh... right? Sigh, limited thinking is endlessly frustrating."

No, I think he means that he sees Bob never admitting that he's wrong or that he even could be wrong about any of his spiritual and political pronouncements, and disparaging the intellectual capacity, psychological maturity, or morality of those who disagree with him. Perhaps he's mistaken about this. If he is, I hope you can cite examples for us that illustrate this.

"You needn't worry about him addressing your central arguments, as in ever."

It seems to me that he DID address some of them. He said they misrepresented the attitudes and beliefs of liberals. Was he mistaken? Bob failed to point out how he was. Perhaps you could honor us with an explanation.

Once again, I'm not looking to stir up anything. I don't even expect you to address what I've written. Nevertheless, I think I've asked some legitimate questions and raised some legitimate points.

Respectfully,
Steve

Please ignore the troll so I don't have to delete him. For those of you who don't already know, you are wasting your time if you think he is susceptible to education.

I must point out that "pompous Vanity Fair Guy" does not single out Wolcott, but applies at least as justly to its ridiculous chief editor Graydon Carter, so grandiose in his pretensions that he makes Hugh Heffner and Norman Cousins seem by comparison like Krazy Kat & Ignatz Mouse.

Also, Wolcott roots for hurricanes to devastate areas of the USA.

It's all light-hearted "bad little boy" sliding around his toy moral Moebius strip. Too bad he never had a month in a cell with Jean Genet.

Do I have to visit Wolcott's site about the orange & blue? I assume it was an allusion to your header & link font colors but maybe he was already explicit about it and you're just joking around. I'd check but if ever a grown adult had the cooties it's James Wolcott.

Well, kos is one of the big believers in the big Lie - and can't possibly fathom WTH you're talking about - so really, I'd count it as a compliment.
