Purity
Later we asked if he wanted to tell us what he had been praying about. He said, "I was just thanking God for loaning us the world."
We never put him up to these outbursts of spirit. Rather, they just come out spontaneously.
"Pride" is not the word for the feeling it evokes; if anything, it is humbling -- to know that one has been profoundly touched by the real presence of the sacred in all its naked innocence and purity. It pierces the heart like few other things.

Fundamentally there are only three miracles: existence, life, intelligence; with intelligence, the curve springing from God closes on itself like a ring that in reality has never been parted from the Infinite. --Schuon
The quest, thus, has no external 'object,' but is reality itself becoming luminous for its movement from the ineffable, through the Cosmos, to the ineffable. --Voegelin
A serious and good philosophical work could be written consisting entirely of jokes. --Wittgenstein
The same Pride with which you see your son (in that photo) is the same Pride through which God sees you.

And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." -- Matthew 18:3
ReplyDeleteAnd I thank God for loaning you Tristan. It has been a great blessing to us all.
ReplyDeleteI love these candid moments you share with us.
ReplyDeleteall that kid needs is a coonskin cap & a "NO-BAMA! 2012" button
ReplyDeleteWay ahead of you. He sells them during recess.
ReplyDeleteIn light of the upcoming SETI@home programme it is worth considering the possability that in keeping with the alleged random nature of existance that planet earth is "accidently first" to be the host to life. Should that be the case then it would be expected that in the fullness of time life will spread to other life friendly planets. Not having the ear of the Great Chancer, what the means to the fullfillment of that end might be I can't hazard to guess. However with so much scientific focus on the atmosphere at the present time, this looking for u.f.o. exercise could be a "look the other way" ploy. Or maybe there's such a thing as collective human race egotic defence mechanism. Then again it may be just willfull thinking. Being a wishfull thinker myself, I sincerly hope, whether it be the same thing or not, that they, that I, and you too find what we're looking for ~
ReplyDeleteThat, Brer Bob, is your Rapture moment of the day.
ReplyDeleteAnd said to him: Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus said to them: Yea, have you never read: Out of the mouth of infants and of sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

Man does not find himself thrown only among objects. He is also immersed in religious experiences. --Don Colacho
ReplyDeleteThe trick as we mature is to name them without containing and therefore vanquishing them. Children help us to unname things and get back to the experience that provoked the naming.
What draws us away from God is not sensuality but abstraction. --DC
ReplyDelete"we were surprised to see Tristan kneeling down to pray, right out in the open.

Pure ideas in action... imagine the consequences.

~ could the time be ripe for a reality spin on the spiritual concept of "rising up to heaven" ~

Well, here we are and God knows best.
It is of course acceptable to believe in things like Santa Claus when you are a young child like that.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's amusing that someone takes from that post that he should have a "NO-BAMA" button.
Not as amusing, of course, as a genius who sees in the post an opportunity to denigrate children, Santa Claus, and humor, with a rare subtly of wit.
ReplyDeleteYou don't really see me as a genius, do you?
ReplyDeleteWe liberals don't like Santa Claus because he horns in on our turf.
ReplyDeleteAnd we love children, so long as they're over 30.
ReplyDeleteWe also aren't childish or immature enough to believe in some 'messiah' that will appear and magically fix our lives...
ReplyDelete...by paying of our mortgages or car payments from his stash.
ReplyDeleteaninnymouse said "We also aren't childish or immature enough to believe in some 'messiah' that will appear and magically fix our lives..."
ReplyDeleteActually, since that is what you obviously do believe it's about, you are clearly demonstrating that you are too childish and immature to advance beyond such a concept.
Pure Joy!
