A Hiatus It Is Then

Eight days without a post. What is it? A pause? A respite? A reprieve? A sabbatical?

All of the above?

As always, there's no plan, whether to blog, not blog, or not-not blog. Although there's no reason to force oneself to do so when the inspiration isn't spirating. No one knows where or why it blows, but it's not blowing around here at the moment, so a hiatus it is.

  1. I thought the paucity of new posts was due to lack of new books showing up on your doorstep, or, possibly, an extreme case of serious idler, compounded by a touch of Spring. We'll, or I'll, wait.

    I know that feeling.

When the handouts start handing out, we'll be around, looking for scraps in the usual raccoon fashion. Slack permitting, of course.

Speaking of raccoons, we don’t think that all animals value freedom above all else. We think of the Youtube guys who’ve tried raising orphaned raccoons.

Upon reaching adulthood their guardians dutifully released these racoons out onto to the wild. The raccoons dutifully disappeared for a while. And the Disney Call of the Wild music dutifully played.

    Then the racoons returned.

Ofttimes the raccoons returned with comically disastrous results. In one such documented incident, the owner came home from a hard days night to find their raccoon slacking about on the living room couch, as if nothing had ever happened. The owner scooped up the raccoon and carried him out the back door, to discover that lo, there’s been extensive damage done to the kitchen drywall and house siding.

Then it all happened again. And again it did.

Lets us now talk about the psychology behind this. In short, sometimes an animal knows how tough it is out there. Sometimes an animal knows a good thing when they’ve got one. Sometimes an animal would rather slack on the living room couch. And thus, the raccoons return. We believe that Bob is releasing us out onto the wild. We also believe that we shall return. Our suggestion to Bob is that he install a cat door, because resistance could get messy.

    That is all.

  6. Some great tweets from the Happy Acres Guy -- he's as concise and pointed as Dávila:

To punish them for their ingratitude, I'd travel back in time and NOT colonize them.

The Left's not defeated by arguing. It's defeated by pointing & laughing.

So much of what's happening is to too stupid to comment on.

How do the more obscure of the 57 genders ever locate a mate?

Progressives still think they're fighting against tradition, but they're actually fighting against biology.

People's deepest, most heartfelt convictions have been spoon-fed to them.

  7. I’ve fallen into the habit of not planning anything, which pisses the wife off.
“Let it come to pass” is my motto.

  9. That looks interesting; sad that so many people are afraid to answer that question, but I guess that's because there just aren't that many biologists in the world.

  10. Re: pointing and laughing at the left.

I just saw a video where a progressive praised Biden for his ‘Putin must go’ statement, then another where they criticized the White House for walking that statement back.

The progressive then itemized all the countries where democratic republican governments have been backsliding towards authoritarianism, or eliminated altogether. The trend is not good, if you’re into freedom and liberty that is.

Looking for a way to point and laugh at this progressive, I decided to change the subject to the far more important gender confusion of the left. So I went to the Gateway Pundit for advice.

  11. Bob has no enthusiasm for the blog right now. In Greek, en (in) + Theon (God), enthusiasm is ‘possessed by God’.
    Bob’s be back when he’s more… possessed.
    I look forward to it.

I cannot talk about anything without talking about everything. --Chesterton

Fundamentally there are only three miracles: existence, life, intelligence; with intelligence, the curve springing from God closes on itself like a ring that in reality has never been parted from the Infinite. --Schuon

The quest, thus, has no external 'object,' but is reality itself becoming luminous for its movement from the ineffable, through the Cosmos, to the ineffable. --Voegelin
