If the state becomes their source, then the state can also take them away. Which is precisely what the state has been doing since the left began transforming it into its own ghastly image.

As they are finding out the hard way in much of Europe. In fact, there are so many examples of various states trampling all over the rights of one group in order to "protect the rights" (or rather, validate the insanity) of another, that if one cannot laugh, one will surely be crying in short order.juliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15975754287030568726noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8580258.post-51314692490809148772015-11-04T11:32:23.763-08:002015-11-04T11:32:23.763-08:00Yep, a much better way to put it. I would add that we are usually most objective when we are laughing at ourselves.

Gagdad Bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14249005793605006679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8580258.post-10020447083667605352015-11-04T10:23:51.717-08:002015-11-04T10:23:51.717-08:00Like any other instinct, the lust for distinction ...Like any other instinct, the lust for distinction doesn't go away. It is just displaced to the horizontal/human plane (or lower), so that these useless people want to be known and affirmed by lots of other useless people. This is how excellence is displaced by celebrity, and how we end up with a useless President Kardashian.

A Christian bookseller's blurb: "Learn how to be free to enjoy Christ's love while no longer basing your self-worth on your accomplishments or the opinions of others. Robert S. McGee's book, The Search for Significance, shows readers how four false beliefs regarding performance, approval, blame, and shame, have kept you from the joy of abundant life in Christ."

It is possible that this well-intentioned book, like all that purpose-driven BS, has played a significant role in the decline of Christianity in the First World over the last 30 years. Speaking only for myself, when I was given the book to read by someone who thought I lacked sufficient confidence, I did not get a lot of good out of it. It sounded more like Wayne Dyer than the prophet Elijah.

The problem I saw was that self-esteem can be wrong in two ways: positive self-esteem and negative self-esteem. The proper position is more like no self-esteem. Humility isn't self-denigration or something like that. It is, rather, not giving self a whole lot of thought at all.mushroomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07651027035577798096noreply@blogger.com
