As the Bible expresses it, the creation is carried or upheld by the word. Without Him nothing would exist of all that exists.

In other words (and I think something like that was in the Coonifesto too), God did not just "imbue" the universe with all it needed at the Big Bang - God is always Banging away. (Actually Jesus pretty much said so when he talked about his work and the Sabbath.)

On the other hand, I strongly oppose the idea of pantheism, that God is kind of synonymous with or trapped within the universe.

It seems people call this pan-entheism: God is always present in the universe, but also always timeless outside it. I thought that was kind of obvious, at least to Christians. But I don't have any divine messages about these things, because it is not what God talks to me about. Mostly we converse about far more practical things. ^_^Magnus Itlandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18445902788427523461noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8580258.post-13327889255795642902007-07-27T19:30:00.000-07:002007-07-27T19:30:00.000-07:00Walt - If the things you believe are truly alive, ...Walt - If the things you believe are truly alive, you will be "alive" to them. The question is always, how does this "aliveness" manifest itself? The answer is necessarily subtle and unexpected. "In the world but not of the world" unveils itself only gradually over time. All at once would be too much to bear. At least that's my experience.NoMohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01100042056270224683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8580258.post-18329218753610141012007-07-27T16:47:00.000-07:002007-07-27T16:47:00.000-07:00In order to better understand the post, I'll often...In order to better understand the post, I'll often extract what seem to be key ideas from it, and look at them separately. For instance, these are some that I extracted and edited into phrases, today:

"...the dynamic reciprocity of the 'flowing forth' of all things...and the 'flowing back'...

...this eternally circular flow is what I was attempting to convey...

...subjectivity...the universe evolves from the outer to the inner. Then from that which is innermost, rarest, and latest we turn back to that which is first of all...

...inwardness -- which no material evidence by itself allows us to surmise, of whose actual presence no physical model offers the slightest hint.

...we must grant to matter... the possibility of eventual inwardness..."

Now, I follow those ideas, and thanks to following OC for nearly a year, can say that they "ring true," and/or "make sense."

But I also know that they run counter to the "conventional" sense of Reality that is expressed by most folks, by most of what I read in the culture, and encounter daily. And most of the time, I take that "consensus" for granted, just like my peers.

I wonder what it would be like to be actually "alive" to the things I really believe?walthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01388218390016612051noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8580258.post-38395977692181695192007-07-27T14:40:00.000-07:002007-07-27T14:40:00.000-07:00You can have mine if you like.
