Onward Judeo-Christian Soldiers

Words worth repeating and sentiments worth nurturing (via Vanderleun):

"We knew beforehand that we are at war with an enemy. We knew that the world needs to be healed, that it oozes with a venomous darkness, and that darkness will not sit passively as we steal away its dominion. We knew that the more we fight this darkness, the harder it will fight back. We didn't fool ourselves. We decided we will fight and we will win. That is why Gavriel and Rivky went where they went. They went not as tourists, but as fearless soldiers.

"Once you are at war, you don't stop to ponder all over again -- can we win? Is this worth it? Maybe they're worse than we thought? That's deadly. If you would rather stay home and enjoy comfort while the rest of the world sits out in the cold, you should have decided that a long time ago. Now you are out there on the field of battle, you have already awakened the bear from its den, now there is no turning back.

"They are darkness. We are light. They storm the shores with death in their eyes. We come to teach compassion and acts of beauty. They carry assault rifles and grenades. We carry candles for Friday night, a Torah of wisdom, joy and beauty.

"Are we to surrender before them? Are we to stop and cry and ask, 'maybe we're fighting the wrong battle?'

"We will fill the world with light and wisdom and the spirit of darkness in men's hearts shall forever perish. They come with their guns and their might, with a god of destruction and terror, but we come in the name of the Eternal, the source of all life and healing. They and all memory of them will vanish from the face of the earth and our lamp will burn forever."

*****

"[T]o a warrior, there is nothing nobler than a righteous war.... Men of demonic nature know neither what they ought to do, nor what they should refrain from doing. There is no truth in them, or purity, or right conduct.... Because they believe this in the darkness of their little minds, these degraded creatures do horrible deeds, attempting to destroy the world. They are the enemies of mankind." --Bhagavad Gita

Amen. A beautiful prayer, a just and prophetic utterance.

Gavriel and Rivky may have gone as fearless soldiers, but they are coming home in coffins because they were unarmed. As one commenter put it:

Arm all Chabad Centers now! Train!!!

The best defense is a good offense! It is highly legal to arm and defend your family, your Chabad, your area, your city, your neighbor, your friends, and yourself. By saving a life you are performing a Mitzvah - the mitzveh of giving life even on the Shabbas! If a terrorist storms a center at all even if Shabbat or a holiday and someone protects persons by taking action that is a Mitzvah. It is time to train some, purchase protection at whatever cost it may incur! Even if you are afraid to carry a weapon or have weapons available you need to think about the lives of others for fear has no name when faced with someone who may steal one's life unnecessarily or through plain hatred. Arm, get licenses, get some training, get cameras installed, get back up, and take charge! Do not continue to be the sacrifice for the beast. Do something! Hire security guards for the Chabads. Find out what is legal in your area. Speak to police. Learn how to use it. Teach your wives how to use them. Teach.

Bob, There is good reason to accept the compound "Judeo-Christian" while rejecting the notion of an "Abrahamic" tradition encompassing Islam. (The phrase "Judeo-Islamic" makes no sense.) The reason is that Christianity maintained a continuity with the Jewish tradition, even although at times misunderstanding and reviling it, because Christianity retained the Jewish scriptures. Islam, on the other hand, rejects both the Jewish and Christian scriptures, which it considers corrupted and falsified, in favor of its own Koran. The Christian who delves into the Bible has access to the Source that animates the Prophets and Psalmists, but the Islamist is cut off at the root, and the Islamist protestations to the contrary are a dodge.

Thank you for posting the response from the rabbi and thank you to Mr. Van der Luen.

I am angry. I am weeping over this.

And yes, I agree with QP. They need to be armed.

The long arm of vengence needs to reach out and stop these blood-thirsty barbaric Islamic terrorists.

I reject their god.

Which is to say, those who willingly fight for the Light are motivated by love.

It's maddening that already I've seen commentary to the effect that it's unclear what motivated the terrorists this week. As though they were just a group of angry "youths" or some such, and not worshippers of a re-packaged baal.

True enough. But we must never fear, resist or mock the precious and ever peaceful Islam. Who are we to say that raping 6 year-olds is immoral? Who are we to say that stoning gays and rape victims to death is evil? Who are we to say that killing hundreds of people every week in the name of Allah is the height of evil? That is just their culture and it MUST be respected. Morality is all relative, we must remember that.

Islam is ultimately a parody of Judaism and Christianity. By way of analogy, The Father is to Judaism and the Son is to Christianity. The spirit is the relationship between the two. Islam borrows (steals) from the two and makes revealed faith into it's own image. Sinister and from the dark side. Read the blogspot Gates of Vienna. The present atrocities are a new battle in an old war. Oil, a commodity that has been a curse for most countries, is from below, dark and a by-product of the dead. It should come as no surprise that the present stage of Islamic expansion is fueled by black gold, another parody on God's gold...real gold. Read Milton's Paradise lost. The story if full of parody.

Wake up indeed. Second only to the evil doers themselves, stand those who prattle about how 'we must understand them'.

We do understand them, and have since time immemmorial:

""[T]o a warrior, there is nothing nobler than a righteous war.... Men of demonic nature know neither what they ought to do, nor what they should refrain from doing. There is no truth in them, or purity, or right conduct.... Because they believe this in the darkness of their little minds, these degraded creatures do horrible deeds, attempting to destroy the world. They are the enemies of mankind." --Bhagavad Gita"

What we must do is kill them. Harshly. Swiftly. Without apology.

Those who seek to understand and molify, and justify them, as the disgusting deepack "", must be our civil targets. As when they began spewing their passive savagery in the days after 911, we must not allow them to go unchallenged and unidentified in any public venue.

Call them on it. Identify them. If we do not, they infiltrate the minds of the innocent and unthinking, and as we saw in the years after 911, they can do more to further the enemies cause in those psychic fifth columns than the physical enemies themselves.

USpace said "All real freedom starts with freedom of speech. If there is no freedom of speech there can be no real freedom."

Not so.

While freedom of speech is the culmination of the recognition of Individual Rights, it is not their source, and the 'freedom of speech' is powerless without its political root, the right to property. Freedom of speech without a recognition of property rights, is but the thinnest of frauds, all Individual Rights find their political roots in the right to property, and tyranny takes its first steps against individual rights by attacking them at their roots (as with 'economic rights' and other so called 'human rights') in the peoples right to their property - in themselves, their actions, and the fruits of their actions.

USpace, please, stop with the foot long closing tag.

The most wretched, evil and cowardly thing I read about the carnage was written by a journalist, festering boil on democracy that he is:
"Terrorism has no religion." He wrote, in order to assuage the anger toward Muslims that inevitably arise when one or ten of them go off in the name of their prophet, bile be forever upon him.

The Joint Chiefs have a plan, code named "Sinai", which details a massive operation which if implemented would enable the US to take control of the Arabian peninsula and Palestine, and also Western Iran and portions of the Transcaucusus.

Follosing this Pakistan could be dealt with, and Islamic militants could be finally contained.

Obama and his cabinet may decide to go ahead with this; let's hope.

I took the BeliefNet survey which compares your beliefs against a range of religions and belief systems. As I expected, I have more in common with Islam (45%) than with "secular humanism" (13%). For me Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic both tied at 100%.

There were maybe 30 others, ranging from 82% (American Christian Evangelical) down to Taoism (13%) and finally Scientology (9%).

I would have placed Scientology at 0% myself.

Over at LGF there is yet another "evolution vs. creationism" middlebrow circle-jerk. Since Charles has apparently driven away/banned virtually everyone who was able to provide a 'coonish take on this mother of all misapprehensions, the "debate" goes nowhere at all for the typical 600 or 700 posts.

One thing is for sure: the scientistic jester is in the wrong place.

Van - I'm sorry if I insulted your delicate sensibilities on someone else's blog with my long comment. However, those 'absurd thoughts' are not a "closing tag", that's how I do my comments. The tag starts with the "All freedom starts..." part. So, yes, my comment was about a "foot long", just like one of yours.

Now that being said; still, I maintain that Freedom of Speech comes first. Without that most basic human right, to speak, other basic but more complicated rights such as property rights can much more easily be taken away.

If man can not simply speak out against, and about, injustices, how will they ever be righted? They won't be, certainly not without armed conflict and revolution.

That is pure nonsense. Property -- and the right to defend it -- is paramount.

You haven't insulted my sensibilities, delicate (!) or otherwise ... sorry, IMHO, the long succession of banal pointlettes are just annoying - perhaps I'm the only one. Oh well.

You are of course free to maintain that freedom of speech comes first, I think you'd be hard pressed to put any real substance into the claim though, and there's plenty of substantial thought to the contrary, from Locke through Madison to the contrary. You can be free to speak out as you wish, but if you have no means to act on your words, or all that you 'own' can be taken away because of your words, they will be reduced to merest of chatter.

Yes Van, & Bob - You're right, that property and the "rights to defend it" are paramount, says that Free Speech comes first. The first defense is with speech, if that provokes an attack then the Right of self-defense is exercised.

A person's body is their first property, and the freedom to operate its speech is paramount, speech comes before any body 'owns' any thing else. If a person's property or freedom can be take away because of their speech, then they have no true freedom of speech.

The reason tyrants and dictators, and those tending in that direction, don't allow free speech is because their words may well sway the populace and/or the courts to see the truth of the tyrants' and dictators' unjust actions.

Any where there is no property rights, I'm quite sure free speech is much longer gone.

"banal pointlettes" I love it, thank you!

My rabbi, a Lubavitcher, is a weapons expert. From what I've gleaned over the years, he's well-armed and is more than happy to share his extensive knowledge with anyone who asks what's best for them to have. There may be a reason Rabbi Holtzberg didn't have a weapon at his Chabad House as I'm sure this issue has been discussed in the Lubavitcher community.
