The Petey Files

This blogging business is finally allowing me to get organized. For years, I've been scribbling thoughts, fragments of thoughts, ideas, and ideas for ideas, in book margins, post its, pads, binders, hotel stationery, napkins, matchbooks, and body parts (mostly my own, which makes them easier to track down).

In rummaging through all this flotsam and jetsam, I also realized how often Petey has been communicating to me in his cryptic way. He'll just just throw stuff out, and it's generally up to me to follow up on it. Today I'm too busy to blog anything of substance, so I will simply give Petey the floor, and leave you with a few examples:

--Petey's immutable meta-law: "bad everything drives out good everything."

--"Job one" of leftists is to attack language. After that, they can reach any conclusion they desire.

--Along these lines, he once said "When language becomes unmoored from reality, evolution becomes as static as a dog's bark." (I think this was in reference to Howard Dean; in fact, Petey refers to Democratc ideas as their "barking points.")

--The culture of victimization doesn't surprise him, since being a victim allows you to share in the perverse but considerable pleasure of your imagined subjugation.

--Petey detests multiculturalism. He's says that "most cultures are just personal error on a catastrophic scale."

--Petey has no respect for leftist professors. He says "they just sow their bullshit ideas. The poor and the stupid have to reap them."

--Back when we were arguing about whether time had qualities, he said, "Don't be an idiot. Clocks measure space, not time."

--Sometimes he can almost be compassionate. One time he said to me, "Don't worry. Eccentricity is just freedom lived."

--When I first began writing about spiritual matters, he thought I was rather presumptuous. He sharply asked, "Why would you, of all people, have fixed opinions about the unknowable?"

--Once when Hillary Clinton popped onto the TV screen, he muttered, "intelligence without light is just cunning."

--He doesn't have a high opinion of the MSM. He calls it "the crazy glue that holds the liberal fantasy together."

--He says "The topology of the body politic is a hyperdimensional phase space containing valleys with no bottom. This is proven by the existence of Al Sharpton."

Stephen Hicks would very likely agree.

Bob -

maybe you can enlighten me about a
branch of philosophy called
...wait for it..."anti-nomialism".

in my under developed understanding...
it is something like
"zen"...which may be something like the corrupting(?) influence of "phenomenology"...

you mentioned something in a post of yours within the last 2-3 weeks
about a lower or more primitive
cognition that is
pre-verbal or primarily
*visual*...

while i was interested in your elaborating on that nugget,
these comments quoted above
and the current Gen X/Y/etc
addiction of *video* for
critical news and info,
and the possible decline in reading writing, and respect for
"History" with a capital H
with its indepth "backstory"...
suggests a under-developed "knowing".

that instinctive or intuitive knowing that i understand
as being somehow related to "zen" might parallel the fondness for
"feelings" vs. critical rationality.

we "feel" that we "Know".

anything more than that requires actual WORK to LEARN.

and as someone once said,
almost all TRUE learning
is PAINFUL...so most of us avoid it like the plague.

could this fondness for
"felt" knowledge on the part of the Left just be the more common
*Human Laziness*???

and/or:
"why assume evil intent
when incompetence suffices as the explanation?"

that one made me laugh out loud.

in reply...prior to reading your post, i had looked up "anti-nomiaLism"
at Wiki-pedia.

the search
gave links to your religious definition...ie"anti-nomiaNism":

this website (even has pictures!)
gives an over-view:
www.rotten.com/library/religion/heresy/antinomianism/

i will pursue "anti-nomiaLism"
more rigourously and try to post some findings here...

...but my
executive summary understanding
of it was as a philosophy that says,
not unlike post-modernism,
that:

"words do not describe, and infact,*cannot* approach *Reality*".

that,in terms of cognition,
words are an imperfect
(and even fataly mis-leading)
intermediary between understanding and Reality.

hth.

When reality looks too grim, you can either change your perception of reality, which the left have conveniently done via deconstupidism, become psychotic (or do I repeat myself) or have a good laugh. Sometimes we just need a good laugh and Petey not only amuses, he even makes us think, and in these strange times (whatever that is), when reality (whatever that is) looks bleak, that isn't nothin'.

a short,well known example,
who me?:

"A Rose,

it's odd.

the PoMo's i was exposed to in the
80's were fascinated by Semantics,Symbology,and especially...*metaphor*.

if it weren't for the Will to Power,
they'd all be poets
luxuriating in language.

if i recall, there
was in the classical tradition
the idea that poetry was
NOT A TRIFLE BUT ONE OF THE HIGHEST PURSUITS.

PoMo and Deconstruction are simply
repetitively describing the
the wasteland of meaninglessness.

the search ...even the LEAP to higher meaning has been abandoned.

I get home from work tonight and all I read is the same old bad news. You know, this lefty spewed this crap, that lefty dropped some more.

Then I came here and laughed. I thought "the crazy glue that holds the liberal fantasy together." was great. And,

shrinkwrapped, I learned a new word thanks to you. deconstupidism

Thank you.
